Backflow Preventer/Inspection Services
Ensure Clean Irrigation Water
Water sources are shielded from pollution by using backflow preventers. Backflow occurs when the water supply system's maintained pressure fails or is reduced. For instance, if a water main broke, the result would be a "back siphon" effect, which would draw water from your irrigation system, a dirty source, into the clean municipal supply. To ensure that the filthy water does not reach the clean water, a backflow preventer has been installed.
Every irrigation system that receives water from a public source must have a backflow preventer installed by state law. This will either be a pressure vacuum breaker (PVB) assembly or a reduced pressure zone (RPZ), depending on the local building requirements. A PVB can only be outside, but an RPZ can be either outside or in the basement.
Additionally, according to state law, this device must be checked annually, which is done when your irrigation system is recharged in the spring. Backflow preventer assembly testing necessitates the use of a particular test gauge and can only be carried out by someone who has undergone the necessary training and is certified by the State of Iowa.
We have qualified staff members at Iowa Irrigation that can inspect backflow preventer devices and provide repairs as necessary. This offers you the assurance that the expert that arrives at your home will carry out this work professionally and in compliance with the law, keeping you out of trouble. We provide backflow checks as a part of our customers' yearly maintenance plans, but we're also happy to help other business and residential property owners!
